My mom made me an awesome breakfast which consisted of Doenjang jjigae, chives and squash pancake, and a side of green tea rice.

The doenjang jjigae is a stew made from soybean paste with mushrooms, squash, leeks, and other various vegetables. It tastes very good and is soothing to eat. The chives and squash pancake is one of my favorites. I just dipped it in soy sauce and ate it with my rice. The green tea rice was the wow factor for me. It was the first time I ever had something like this.  The rice was tinted green and it tasted very much like green tea. It had a wholesome taste to it which was amazing.

While passing through St. Marks in the East Village, John and I decided to try out the yogurt at Yogurt Station. The huge sign with the big bold pink words, “39 cents per ounce,” caught our thirsty eyes from across the street. Once we entered, we picked up one of the cups and served ourselves to the different yogurt choices they had. Flavors ranged from interesting flavors such as cheesecake, red velvet, green tea, and cake batter to the more simple flavors such as dutch chocolate and strawberry.

We headed towards the register where there was a variety of assorted toppings as you would see at Pinkberry or Red Mango. John decided to get the green tea yogurt with mochi rice cakes while I chose red velvet and strawberry toppings. The plus side of this place is that you can control the amount of yogurt and toppings you can get. The down side is that right when we sat outside on their tables and chairs, it melted very quickly. I would have to say the yogurt tasted just average but it was pretty cheap. However, the melting yogurt was a bit of a turnoff. We would probably not come here again and search for other yogurt places in the area for the real deal next time.

After dining on dim sum, my sisters and I decided to grab some ice cream at the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory during this excruciating heatwave us New Yorkers are experiencing.

I bought the lychee ice cream which tasted very scrumptious with bits of lychee fruit. The other flavors that my sisters bought were sesame seed and green tea. Nom nom nom!
